The Barbera d'Asti DOCG from Az. Vitivinicola Piano honestly expresses the character of the grape and the Asti area. In the glass it shows a lively ruby colour, dark yet translucent; the nose offers fresh red and dark berries — cherry, plum — with subtle spicy and balsamic hints that do not overpower the fruit. On the palate it is marked by lively acidity that brings freshness, soft tannins and a pleasant, well-balanced persistence without excess. Overall it feels harmonious and approachable, suited to those seeking a characterful everyday red.

It pairs well with dishes from the Piedmont tradition and home cooking: cured meats, pasta with ragù, grilled meats and medium-aged cheeses. Serve cool, around 16–18 °C, and open a few minutes before serving to allow the aromas to open. It is a wine for near-term consumption that nonetheless retains enough structure to stand up to more savory pairings.
