The Barolo DOCG Monprivato by Sordo is a gem in the landscape of Piedmontese wines. This wine represents a pure and refined expression of the Nebbiolo grape variety, cultivated in one of the most prestigious areas of Barolo, the Monprivato vineyard located in the commune of Castiglione Falletto.

With an intense garnet-red color, the Barolo Monprivato by Sordo offers a complex and enveloping bouquet on the nose. At first impact, aromas of ripe red fruits like cherries and plums emerge, followed by more evolved notes of chocolate, tobacco, and leather, enriched by a light touch of menthol and sweet spices. These aromas are the result of a meticulous winemaking process followed by aging in oak barrels, which imparts an elegant and composed structure to the wine.

On the palate, the Barolo Monprivato stands out for its robustness and, at the same time, its harmony. The tannins, well-present but finely crafted, support a full and enveloping sip. The freshness and acidity are perfectly balanced, leading the wine to a long and persistent finish, with a lingering aftertaste reminiscent of spices and a pleasant slight bitterness.

This wine is ideal for accompanying rich and structured dishes like braised meats, stews, and aged cheeses. The complexity and elegance of the Barolo DOCG Monprivato by Sordo also make it perfect for enjoying on its own, as a moment of pure oenological contemplation.

It is recommended to decant the wine for at least an hour before tasting to best enhance its qualities. It is a wine that can be appreciated immediately but also has great aging potential, evolving in complexity and nuances over the years.

Winery history
The estate is led by the Bricolo family: parents Alberta and Roberto started the business, and it is now managed by their daughter Roberta. Over the years the facilities have been expanded with architectural additions focused on hospitality and wine tourism.
Production philosophy
The company's philosophy centers on organic viticulture and sustainability: the organic approach is regarded as an indispensable choice to safeguard health and the land and to enhance the relationship between soil, vine and climate, with winemaking planned already in the vineyard.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located on the moraine hills around the village of Custoza, in the municipality of Sommacampagna, on glacially derived soils rich in pebbles and calcium carbonate, which impart minerality and salinity to the wines, typical of the Lake Garda area.

Among the recognitions reported by the press and industry platforms are: Tre Bicchieri for the Custoza 'San Michelin'; international awards such as a Silver Medal and mentions in Decanter for the Custoza Superiore 'Summa'; and Mundus Vini medals for wines such as Ca' Nova.
