The Bianco Orvieto Classico DOC Amabile from Bigi stands out for a gentle, approachable character: in the glass it shows a bright straw-yellow color. On the nose it opens with aromas of white flowers and white-fleshed fruit, with a light honeyed hint that adds pleasantness without weighing it down. The sweetness is soft and well balanced, supported by lively freshness and a sapidity that maintains its drinkability; the body is slender yet present, with a persistent finish that leaves fruity impressions and a subtle citrus note.

On the palate the sip is harmonious and fluid, suitable for those seeking a slightly sweet white that isn’t banal: the sugary component integrates with the acidity in an elegant way, encouraging another sip. It works well as an aperitif, with seafood starters, fresh salads or soft cheeses and light fruit tarts; it’s also a good choice to accompany ethnic dishes that aren’t too spicy. Serve chilled, ideal for informal, convivial moments.

Winery history
The winery has been rooted in the Orvieto area since the late 19th century; official sources record the founding of Casa Vinicola Luigi Bigi in 1880. Originally based in the former Franciscan monastery "La Trinità," production was moved to more modern facilities in Ponte Giulio during the 20th century. Over time the winery became part of Gruppo Italiano Vini and consolidated production of Orvieto’s characteristic white wines alongside a range of regional reds.
Production philosophy
Official communications and public descriptions highlight an approach focused on enhancing the Orvieto area and promoting Made in Italy, with attention to grape quality and the expression of terroir in the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The operations are rooted in the Orvieto area. The winery works with grapes from vineyards in the classic zone, notably the Vigneto Torricella on the hills overlooking Lago di Corbara; the appellation’s soils feature alluvial, sandy, volcanic and clay-rich characteristics, with vineyards situated at elevations ranging from 150 to 450 metres.
