The Bolgheri Rosso DOC from Grattamacco is an excellent example that reflects the essence of the Tuscan territory from which it originates. This wine, primarily made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese grapes, expresses a perfect synergy between the varieties, meticulously matured under the watchful eye of the vintners at the prestigious Grattamacco winery.

With an intense ruby-red color, the Bolgheri Rosso DOC reveals a complex and seductive bouquet of aromas on the nose. Notes of ripe red fruits like cherries and plums blend with elegant hints of sweet spices, vanilla, and a light touch of tobacco and leather, a result of its maturation in barrique. On the palate, the wine demonstrates a robust tannic structure, balanced by a fresh acidity that invites another sip. The taste experience is enriched by a long and pleasantly aromatic persistence.

This wine is an ideal choice to accompany richly flavored dishes, such as grilled red meats, stewed game, or aged cheeses. Its versatility makes it perfect for formal occasions or as a cherished gift for connoisseurs.

Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C, decanting for at least 30 minutes before serving to enhance all its organoleptic qualities. The Bolgheri Rosso DOC from Grattamacco is not just a wine to drink, but an experience to be lived, one that continues to evolve in the glass and over time.

Discover the story and wines of Grattamacco.

A Bolgheri (Tuscany) winery known for its focus on the terroir, its hillside Vermentinos and Bordeaux-based Bolgheri wines; considered a pioneering presence in the area.
Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Founded: 1977
Grapes: Vermentino, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
The second-oldest estate in Bolgheri and among the pioneers of the appellation. Vineyards on soils rich in white clay and flysch, facing the sea. Historic producer of Bolgheri Superiore and a hillside Vermentino made from historic vineyards. Featuring a goblet‑trained vineyard for selected Bordeaux expressions.
Winery history
The winery, acquired by Piermario Meletti Cavallari in 1977, was among the first to develop vineyards on the hills of Bolgheri and to bring attention to varieties such as Vermentino and Sangiovese alongside Bordeaux varieties. Over the years it helped establish and shape the local appellation; the property was later transferred to a new owner in the 2000s, and the label is now part of the Collemassari/ColleMassari group for the marketing and management of the estates.
Production philosophy
Production focused on the value of the terroir: manual vineyard work, limited use of cellar technology and practices aimed at preserving the soils' mineral and saline expression. The winery prioritizes winemaking that allows the character and typicity of each vineyard to emerge.
Terroir and vineyards
Located between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, the estate sits on hills facing the sea at elevations ranging approximately between 100 and 200 meters above sea level. The soils are characterized by white clays and marine flysch, which impart a pronounced mineral component, with the constant influence of the sea breeze.
Awards and recognitions
