The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 from Poggio alle Mura, produced by Banfi, embodies the elegance and structure typical of one of Tuscany's most appreciated wines. Coming from the hills of Montalcino, this Sangiovese grosso best expresses the original terroir, characterized by clay and limestone soils. The 2018 stands out for a perfect balance between freshness and softness, the result of traditional aging in oak barrels that imparts aromatic complexity without overpowering the delicate fruity freshness.

On the nose, scents of ripe cherry, plum, and light tobacco are perceived, accompanied by spicy nuances and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is enveloping, with well-integrated tannins and a long persistence that invites sipping. Ideal when paired with roasted red meats, braised dishes, and aged cheeses, this Brunello represents a refined expression of Montalcino’s viticulture.

A perfect wine for those seeking an engaging and authentic experience of the Tuscan territory.

Winery history
Cantina Santi was founded as a winery in Illasi and has been present in Valpolicella since the 19th century. During the 20th century the Santi family introduced technical innovations and progressively focused on high-end wines; in 1974 the winery became part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, which reinforced investments and facilities while preserving its local identity.
Production philosophy
Santi claims a style tied to the sense of place of Valpolicella: it favors the predominant use of Corvina in its selections, aging in large traditional casks, and the use of local woods to enhance the aromatic qualities typical of native grape varieties. The approach combines oenological research with respect for local practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Santi's vineyards and selections are concentrated in Val d'Illasi and the classic areas of Valpolicella, using a vineyard-selection approach across different exposures and microclimates to produce wines that reflect the local terroir. The winery also works with vineyards in other Veronese appellations such as Soave, Bardolino and Lugana.
