The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Canalicchio Di Sopra presents balance and structure, offering a measured and recognizable enological profile. In the glass it shows an intense ruby colour; on the nose there are ripe red fruits, light spicy notes and a hint of undergrowth. The palate is compact, supported by present but well-integrated tannins, with a development that alternates freshness and aromatic persistence without excess. It reveals a fine tannic texture and pleasant sapidity that accompany the progression, delivering a medium-long finish.

It pairs well with assertive dishes, red meats, game and aged cheeses, but can also be enjoyed with simpler pairings for those seeking a substantial wine. Recommended serving temperature is around 18 °C and moderate decanting for those wanting greater aromatic openness. Using a large glass is preferable to enhance the aromas; store in a cool, ventilated place.

Winery history
Founded in 1962 by Primo Pacenti, Canalicchio di Sopra has grown as a family-run estate committed to improving the quality of Montalcino wines. The winery's first bottle of Brunello dates to 1966, and in 1967 the estate was among the founding members of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. Today it is managed by successive generations who combine tradition and innovation.
Production philosophy
Pursuit of elegance and respect for the land: the estate works exclusively with the Sangiovese grape to highlight the differences among the individual crus. Vineyard and cellar choices pursue the purity of the fruit, balance, and the protection of the environment that hosts the vineyards.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated on the northeastern side of the Montalcino hill, the estate owns approximately 60 hectares of land in total, 19 of which are planted with vineyards within the cru Canalicchio and Montosoli. The vineyards cover a range of soils and exposures — clay, galestro and mineral-rich substrates — which help define the styles of the wines.
