The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Uccelliera is one of the most prestigious and appreciated wines from Tuscany. This wine is an emblematic example of the region’s ability to produce reds of exceptional quality and depth.

Produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, Brunello di Uccelliera matures for at least two years in oak barrels and further refines in the bottle, a process that enhances its structure and aromatic complexity. Additionally, it is kept in the winery's cellars for an additional period before being marketed to ensure that the wine reaches the customer at its ideal moment for tasting.

Visually, Brunello di Uccelliera presents itself with an intense ruby red color, tending towards garnet with aging. On the nose, it offers a rich and persistent bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits like cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of tobacco, chocolate, and delicate spices, which develop from the wood maturation.

On the palate, this wine reveals a robust but balanced structure, with well-integrated tannins and an aromatic persistence that extends into a long and satisfying finish. It is a wine that best expresses the characteristics of the Montalcino terroir and proves to be extremely versatile in gastronomic pairing, beautifully complementing hearty dishes such as roasted red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

We recommend serving the Brunello di Montalcino from Uccelliera at about 18°C (64°F), after allowing it to decant for a few hours to enhance all its organoleptic qualities. This wine also has excellent aging potential, being able to evolve favorably for more than a decade if stored under optimal conditions.

Winery history
Uccelliera is the name of an ancient estate on the slope of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, near the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. Historical documents mention the locality as early as the late Middle Ages; the current estate originated with the restoration of the property carried out by Andrea Cortonesi, who purchased and renovated it in the 1980s.
Production philosophy
An approach centered on care for the land and attentive winemaking: the winery prioritizes respect for the soil, cultivation practices that are respectful of the land, and winemaking that seeks the pure expression of Sangiovese and the other grape varieties used, with refined cellar practices and extended ageing in wood for the more structured wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the southeastern part of the Montalcino appellation, around Castelnuovo dell’Abate, on calcareous-clayey soils with pockets of sand and marl. The vines are planted at elevations of approximately 150 to 350 meters above sea level, in a microclimate considered well-suited to quality viticulture.
