Il Castelletto Barolo DOCG 2019, produced by the renowned Fortemasso winery, is a red wine that embodies the essence of the prestigious Barolo terroir. Made from Nebbiolo grapes, this wine offers a true touch of class for enthusiasts, thanks to its complex and rich sensory characteristics.

Fortemasso's Barolo shines in the glass with a deep garnet red color, promising an intense olfactory experience. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruits stand out, along with hints of violet, tobacco, and spices. With aging, accents of leather and earth also emerge, blending harmoniously.

On the palate, the wine is robust, with well-structured yet elegant tannins, evolving towards a persistent and pleasantly bitter finish. Its complexity is balanced by a vibrant freshness, making it suitable for aging beautifully.

Ideal for accompanying Piedmontese cuisine such as braised meats and truffles, this Barolo DOCG 2019 is best served at a temperature of 18°C. It is advisable to decant it for a few hours before serving, to allow the wine to express its full potential. A prestigious addition to any personal cellar.

Winery history
In 2013 the Gussalli Beretta family acquired the Fortemasso estate in Castelletto, Monforte d’Alba, launching a project to enhance high-quality vineyards for the production of wines from the great appellations of the Langhe. The estate was renovated to blend traditional features with contemporary interiors, while the cellar was arranged in underground spaces to preserve the surrounding landscape and optimize the winemaking and aging processes.
Production philosophy
Strong focus on vineyard work and limited intervention in the cellar: the winemaking philosophy aims to preserve varietal and terroir characteristics, adopting a "light touch" during winemaking and making use of a cellar designed for sustainability and to control aging conditions.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. The Castelletto parcels lie on steep slopes with predominantly sandy and calcareous soils and have varying aspects; some areas are between 360 and 450 m a.s.l, others between 300 and 350 m a.s.l. The combination of soil and microclimate produces the mineral, elegant wines typical of the area.
Awards and recognitions
Fortemasso has received national and international recognition: among these are awards and mentions in guides and competitions such as Decanter, Mundus Vini and awards/recognition from Italian guides such as Gambero Rosso.
