The Chardonnay Collio DOC - Pighin is born in the lands of Friuli Venezia Giulia, an area renowned for its elegant white wines thanks to the mild climate and hilly soils rich in marl and sandstone. This Chardonnay stands out for its refined expression, the result of careful vinification and aging in steel tanks that preserve freshness and varietal purity. On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of white-fleshed fruits, such as golden apple and peach, accompanied by delicate floral notes and slightly mineral hints typical of the territory.

On the palate, it is enveloping and savory, with a perfect balance between acidity and softness, offering an elegant and harmonious persistence. Ideal to accompany dishes based on fish, shellfish, and white meats, this Chardonnay Collio represents a perfect synthesis between tradition and modern winemaking. A white wine that knows how to tell the story of its land of origin with balance and character.

Family-run company active since 1963, operating in Collio and Friuli Grave. Two main estates: Risano and Spessa di Capriva. Extensive focus on Friuli's typical white wines and Pinot Grigio. Niche productions: Picolit in very limited quantities and Ribolla-based sparkling wines. Commitment to modernization, sustainability, and experimentation with resistant grape varieties.
Winery history
The Pighin family has been operating in Friuli since the early 1960s. The business expanded through the acquisition of significant holdings in the pianura delle Grave and, later, with a hill estate at Spessa di Capriva in the Collio. The administrative headquarters and the modern winery are located in Risano, while the hill estate at Spessa features terraced vineyards that surround the historic winery and a 17th-century villa used for official receptions and guest accommodation. Over the years the estate has combined tradition with modernization of its facilities and winemaking methods.
Production philosophy
Enhancing the Friulian territory by combining careful vineyard management with cellar technologies: a strong focus on indigenous varieties and the quality of white wines, experimentation with disease-resistant grape varieties and investments in sustainability and innovation, without abandoning traditional winemaking for premium labels.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate operates in two distinct areas: the Friuli Grave plain and the hills of the Collio Goriziano. The Collio vineyards benefit from the region’s typical soils and their hillside exposure, while the parcels on the Grave plain contribute to higher-volume production.
