This Chardonnay IGT from Monacesca presents itself as a balanced, composed white wine, suitable for those seeking a clean, recognisable product. In the glass it shows a straw-yellow colour with bright highlights; on the nose it offers a fragrant, measured profile where notes of white-fleshed fruit and delicate floral hints appear, without excess. The intensity is moderate, with an overall sense of clear balance between freshness and structure.

On the palate it confirms a smooth, controlled drinkability, with an approachable flavour profile and the absence of tannins expected of a white of this style. The finish remains clean and pleasantly persistent, making it suitable for various pairings: from light fish dishes to vegetable-based plates, fresh cheeses and antipasti. It is recommended to serve it cool in glasses appropriate for whites to appreciate its simplicity and everyday pleasure. It also lends itself well to youthful consumption.

Discover the story and wines of Fattoria La Monacesca.

Winery located in the Contrada Monacesca area of Matelica (MC). Producer of Verdicchio di Matelica; viticulture in the area since 1966, run by the Cifola family.
Region: Marche (province of Macerata)
Country: Italy
Winery history
The name comes from a Benedictine monks' settlement in the contrada. The family wine activity is documented since 1966: the estate was started by Casimiro Cifola and later continued by his son Aldo Cifola.
Production philosophy
To enhance the territory and the native Verdicchio. Cellar work focuses on preserving organoleptic properties (controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks) and balancing tradition with innovation; strong emphasis on quality and bottle evolution.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the Upper Esino Valley (Matelica area). Predominantly clay and calcareous fossil soils; continental climate with Mediterranean sun; vineyards around 400 m asl giving the local Verdicchio acidity, freshness and minerality.
