Laurelwood Chardonnay - Ponzi is a refined and distinctive expression of Chardonnay produced by the Ponzi winery, one of the pioneers of viticulture in Oregon, particularly in the Willamette Valley, renowned for its high quality wines. Founded in the late 1960s by Dick and Nancy Ponzi, the winery played a crucial role in developing and promoting the region as one of the United States' premier winemaking areas for cool-climate white and red grape varieties.

Laurelwood Chardonnay takes its name from the Laurelwood soil that predominates in the vineyards from which the grapes for this wine come, characterized by a top layer of aeolian loess, rich in minerals, which contributes to the complexity and minerality of the wines. This specific terroir, combined with the temperate climate of the Willamette Valley, with hot summers and mild winters, creates the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Chardonnay, allowing the production of high quality grapes rich in character.

The wine stands out for its elegance, structure and aromatic profile, with careful vinification that includes fermentation and aging in oak barriques, of which a new part, to add complexity, toasted notes and a creamy texture without overpower the freshness and purity of the fruit. Ponzi's philosophy is to produce wines that reflect the identity of their terroir, with a sustainable approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Visually, Laurelwood Chardonnay has a straw yellow color with brilliant reflections. On the nose, it offers a rich and complex bouquet, with aromas of apple, pear, citrus and floral nuances, enriched by notes of vanilla, butter and a subtle minerality. In the mouth, the wine reveals great harmony and balance, with a lively freshness that supports the richness of the fruit and leads to a long and persistent finish.

This Chardonnay is perfect to accompany refined dishes of fish, seafood, poultry and soft cheeses. Its elegance and complexity also make it suitable as a meditation wine, capable of expressing itself fully even after a few years of aging in the bottle.
