Pairing Fish, shellfish, poultry and white meats
La Pietra is a Chardonnay white wine bearing the Toscana IGT designation and the Folonari Cabreo name. The grape variety and geographical indication on the label provide the essential details for identifying the product, without implying vintage or production characteristics that have not been stated. It may appeal to those looking for a Chardonnay white wine carrying a Tuscan indication. The name La Pietra distinguishes this label within the range.

At the table, it can accompany fish, shellfish, white meats or mildly seasoned vegetarian dishes. These are serving suggestions rather than fixed pairings, and can be adapted to the recipe and personal taste. It suits a relaxed lunch as well as a dinner where a Chardonnay white wine is desired. For best enjoyment, serve it chilled, avoiding an excessively low temperature that might mute the impressions. An uncomplicated choice for the table, with its identity based on the information provided on the label and no undocumented tasting notes attributed to it.

La Pietra is a Chardonnay Toscana IGT produced by Tenute del Cabreo, an estate owned by the Folonari family.
Region: Tuscany — Greve in Chianti and Panzano in Chianti
Country: Italy
Winery history
The Folonari family acquired the Zano estate in 1967. La Pietra grew out of Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari’s decision, in 1983, to vinify and age Chardonnay in the way they did great Tuscan reds.
Production philosophy
The estate gives Chardonnay a Tuscan interpretation: initial fermentation in stainless steel, followed by ageing in wood and an extended maturation, then bottle ageing.
Terroir and vineyards
Tenute del Cabreo lies within the municipality of Greve in Chianti and comprises Zano and Casa di Sala, in Panzano in Chianti. La Pietra is made from Chardonnay grown at Casa di Sala, where the soils are characterised by white clay and galestro.
