Château Cos d'Estournel is a Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Estephe that immediately shows a solid, recognizable presence. The color is deep, the aromatic profile opens with ripe black fruits, spicy notes, balsamic hints and mineral nuances that add complexity without excess. On the nose there are also delicate floral touches and toasted tones, balanced by a fresh underpinning that keeps the wine lively and articulated. The producer's signature is noticeable in the precision and elegance of the material.

On the palate it offers structure and a tannic framework that is well-defined yet progressive, supported by good length; the acidity accompanies the sip, maintaining drive. It is a wine suited to moderate further evolution in the cellar, but already capable of delivering pleasure paired with red meats, roasts, game or aged cheeses. To best appreciate its nuances, a brief oxygenation before service and a controlled tasting temperature are recommended.

Winery history
Viticulture in the Saint-Estèphe area dates back to Roman times; significant development took place in the Middle Ages thanks to trade with England. The gradual drainage of marshland from the 17th century expanded the area available for cultivation. The region received official recognition as an AOC in 1936 and has since consolidated its oenological identity within the Médoc.
Production philosophy
Winemaking aims to showcase the terroir: gravelly soils with a relatively higher clay content provide structure and aging potential. The appellation's wines favor tannin extraction and aging, with blends often dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon but with significant use of Merlot to round out the younger wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated at the northernmost point of the Médoc’s communal appellations, Saint-Estèphe borders Pauillac and stretches along the left bank of the Gironde. The soils are typically gravelly, and the climate is moderated by the influence of the large estuary.
