The Chianti Classico DOCG from the Pagliarese winery represents a masterpiece of Tuscan winemaking, a perfect synthesis of tradition, territory, and innovation. Born in the historic vineyards of Pagliarese, this wine is the result of a careful selection of the best Sangiovese grapes, enhanced by minor touches of other native varieties.

The color presents a deep ruby red, with reflections tending towards garnet with aging. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and complex. Notes of ripe red fruits harmoniously mingle with hints of violet and sweet spices, followed by a slight aroma of tobacco and chocolate, a result of aging in barrique.

On the palate, the Chianti Classico DOCG from Pagliarese reveals a robust yet harmonious structure. The well-balanced acidity and tannins contribute to a full, persistent, and very elegant tasting experience. The aftertaste leaves a pleasant length that recalls spices and red fruits.

This wine particularly shines when served at a temperature of 18°C and can be an excellent companion to Tuscan cuisine dishes, such as bistecca alla fiorentina, mushroom-based dishes, and aged cheeses. Additionally, its aging potential makes it a great candidate for cellar maturation, where it can evolve and improve for many years.

The careful vinification and meticulous grape selection make the Chianti Classico DOCG - Pagliarese a valuable addition to any wine collection, promising an unforgettable tasting experience that reflects the essence of the terroir of this prestigious winemaking area.

Winery history
Pagliarese is a historic name in the territory of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The estate and property were known in past decades for the production of Chianti Classico; following production and management difficulties, direct production ceased in the 1990s. In 1995 the property and vineyards became part of the Poggiali family's holdings, and work began to recover, replant and enhance the ampelographic heritage. After years of vineyard renewal and winemaking trials, the Pagliarese label was relaunched with the 2015 harvest as the first vintage of the new production phase.
Production philosophy
The project combines respect for local tradition and attention to the terroir with an approach aimed at "modernizing the old style": showcasing Sangiovese, integrating modest amounts of native varieties typical of Chianti Classico, and favoring winemaking that emphasizes elegance and freshness. The activity also includes the production of extra virgin olive oil, using hand-harvesting techniques and processing attentive to quality.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southern part of the Chianti Classico. The vineyards are mostly south-southwest facing on the hills of Colle del Montecucco, at elevations between 320 and 390 metres above sea level, with soils alternating between macigno, sandstones, alberese and alluvial pebbles. The landscape alternates vineyards, olive groves and extensive woodlands typical of the Crete Senesi.
