The Chinon Rouge Grézeaux by Bernard Baudry is a true expression of the unique terroir of the Loire Valley. Made exclusively from Cabernet Franc grapes grown in soil comprised mainly of sand and gravel, this wine captures the essence of the region with a distinctive and vibrant character. The peculiarity of the terrain imparts the wine with a light structure and remarkable freshness.

In each sip of Chinon Rouge Grézeaux, one detects a complexity of aromas ranging from notes of fresh red fruits, like cherry and strawberry, to more evolved hints of wet earth and mild spices, a testament to the aging in French oak barrels. The vinification is carried out with great respect for the original fruit, using native yeasts and minimizing technical intervention to preserve the authenticity of the varietal.

This wine is ideal for enjoying with red meat dishes, mushroom-based preparations, or medium-aged cheeses, creating a perfect marriage of flavors. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C to better appreciate its complex bouquet and pleasant persistence. The Chinon Rouge Grézeaux is not just a wine; it's a sensory journey to the heart of Chinon, perfect for those seeking an authentic and tradition-linked experience.

Region: Chinon (Valle della Loira)
Country: Francia
Founded: 1975
Grapes: Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc
Vineyard managed organically. Parcel-by-parcel viticulture and winemaking aimed at expressing the different terroirs of Chinon. Vineyards concentrated on Cabernet Franc, with a smaller production of Chenin. Hand-harvested and low-intervention cellar practices. Internationally renowned wines distributed by prominent importers/merchants.
Winery history
Bernard Baudry, trained in oenology in Beaune and later a viticultural consultant in Tours, established his own estate in 1975, starting with just a few hectares. Over the years the estate has grown, and since 2000 his son Matthieu has taken a permanent role in its management, contributing to improvements in the quality of the winemaking.
Production philosophy
Parcel-by-parcel vineyard work and single-clone winemaking to express the terroir; hand harvesting, minimal cellar intervention and environmentally respectful practices. The estate favors an approach to winemaking that highlights the origin of the parcels.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are spread between Cravant-les-Coteaux and the commune of Chinon within the Chinon appellation. Varied soils, including gravelly plains, clay-limestone slopes and sandy-limestone plateaux, influence the different styles of wine produced.
