Coraje di Cittanina is a wine that embodies the authentic essence of the Tuscan territory, a fresh and vigorous expression of Sangiovese, the region's emblematic grape variety. Originating from the hills of the province of Siena, this red enchants with its balance between structure and finesse, the result of careful aging in steel that preserves intact the varietal characteristics and the mineral sapidity of the soil. On the nose, it offers intense scents of ripe cherry and plum, accompanied by spicy hints and subtle herbaceous notes that evoke the Mediterranean undergrowth. Winery history
A family project born from the story of Nina and her family, who immigrated to Mendoza; the winery expresses the idea of creating a "place" cultivated around ancient vineyards and the memory of the land of Las Compuertas. The project is presented directly on the brand’s official website.
Production philosophy
Strong focus on the terroir and the Malbec from a historic vineyard: sustainable vineyard management practices, harvesting in multiple passes to achieve a balance between acidity, fruit and tannin ripeness, and an emphasis on expressing the terroir of Las Compuertas.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Las Compuertas district, Luján de Cuyo. The historic Malbec vineyard is reported to have been planted in 1930 and is situated at approximately 1,050 meters above sea level; the soil is silty loam and the area experiences significant diurnal temperature variation typical of Mendoza’s Andean region.
