Discover the story and wines of Adriano Ramos Pinto (Casa Ramos Pinto).

Casa Ramos Pinto — often identified by the founder's name Adriano Ramos Pinto — is a historic winery in the Douro (Portugal), known for its Ports and still wines from the region.
Region: Douro
Country: Portogallo
Founded: 1880
Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz (Aragonês), Tinta Barroca, Tinta da Barca, Sousão, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela, Rabigato, Viosinho, Folgazão, Códega, Malvasia Fina
Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. Specialist in Port and Douro wines. Direct control of production through four privately owned estates. Example of international awards for its aged Tawnies
Winery history
The house was established by Adriano Ramos Pinto and became renowned for its innovative marketing and exports to the South American market. Over time the company consolidated production by taking direct control of the vineyards of its estates and, from the late 20th century, benefited from investments that modernized its facilities and winemaking research.
Production philosophy
More than a single winery, Ramos Pinto follows a production policy based on control of its vineyards, the selection of traditional Douro grape varieties, and a combination of respect for tradition and technical innovation. In recent years the company has committed to more sustainable farming practices and increased biodiversity in the vineyards.
Terroir and vineyards
Douro Valley: production is based on four estate-owned quintas — Quinta do Bom Retiro, Quinta da Urtiga, Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira — which supply grapes from sites with varying altitudes and soils.
Awards and recognitions
Some of the house wines have received international recognition; a notable example is the Tawny 30 Years, which has earned prominent scores and awards as well as other accolades from specialist publications.
