The Rosso DOC Faro in Magnum format by Le Casematte is a prestigious selection that enhances the excellence of the blend of native Sicilian vines, offering a profound and memorable tasting experience. This wine, representative of the Le Casematte winery, located in the picturesque Faro region in north-eastern Sicily, is a tribute to the rich winemaking tradition of the island, enhancing the singularity of its volcanic terroir and the beneficial influence of the Mediterranean climate.

Produced mainly from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, with the addition of small quantities of other local varieties such as Nocera, Le Casematte's Faro DOC in Magnum format benefits from more gradual aging, thanks to the greater quantity of wine and the wine ratio /air in the container. This process allows for the development of unique aromatic complexity and nuances, making the wine particularly suitable for special occasions or for prolonged aging in the cellar.

The volcanic soil on which the vines grow, together with the exposure to sea winds, gives the wine a distinctive minerality and freshness that beautifully balances the aromatic richness and tannic structure. The vinification and aging in wood are carefully managed to ensure that the essence of the fruit and the typicality of the terroir are preserved and enhanced, harmoniously integrating the notes resulting from aging.

At sight, Rosso DOC Faro has a deep and brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, intense notes of ripe red and black fruits, floral and spicy accents are immediately distinguishable, enriched by a subtle balsamic and mineral vein, which reflect the complexity of the blend and the influence of the soil and climate.

In the mouth, the wine reveals an elegant and enveloping structure, with silky tannins and lively acidity which enhance its balance and persistence. The flavors of cherry, plum and spice blend with mineral notes and a light touch of vanilla and tobacco, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Ideal to accompany intense and structured dishes of Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine, such as grilled red meats, mushroom-based dishes, mature cheeses and wild boar ragù, the Rosso DOC Faro in Magnum format by Le Casematte is a high-quality expression of the Sicilian viticulture, capable of offering a rich and satisfying tasting experience, destined to evolve magnificently over time.

Winery history
Le Casematte began as an enological project founded by Gianfranco Sabbatino and Andrea Barzagli with the aim of raising the profile of the Faro appellation. The name comes from the presence, within the vineyards, of two casematte visible in the landscape; the venture is presented as a meeting between local tradition and modern winemaking choices.
Production philosophy
Small-scale, terroir-focused production: the producer favors indigenous grape varieties and low‑impact farming practices, limiting the use of new oak in aging to preserve freshness and a sense of place in the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards on the hills of Contrada Corso, on the heights north of Messina overlooking the Strait of Messina, at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The microclimate is influenced by sea breezes between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, with pronounced day–night temperature variations that promote the aromatic development of the grapes.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and some of its vintages have received ratings and recognition from guides and critics; praise has appeared in publications and among retailers.
