The Gallico Petit Verdot Toscana IGT from Campo al Mare by Folonari is a red wine that highlights the varietal character of Petit Verdot within the Toscana IGT category. Deep ruby with violet reflections, it opens on the nose with a mix of small red and black fruits, with hints of plum and ripe cherry, accompanied by light floral notes that may recall violet. Subtle spicy nuances and a touch of herbaceousness add to the olfactory complexity without being overpowering.

On the palate it shows a medium to full body, with tannins that are present but well integrated and a balanced structure. The acidity supports the sip, making it smooth despite the weight, and the finish leans toward fruity and spicy memories of moderate persistence. It pairs with cured meats, grilled red meats and hard cheeses; serving slightly tempered is advisable to bring out its aromas.

Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.

Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
