The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 1998 from Tenuta la Fuga - Folonari, presented in a wooden case, is an example of a mature wine at the height of its evolution. In the glass it shows a color ranging from garnet to brick with developed reflections; on the nose it reveals notes of ripe fruit, earthy hints, delicate spices and touches of tobacco and leather, while maintaining a balanced and measured profile. The wooden case emphasizes the bottle as one to store or give as a gift.

On the palate it displays smoothed tannins and a structure that speaks of years passed, with a persistence that invites slow sipping. It is recommended to serve at moderate temperature in wide glasses, paired with traditional dishes, roasted meats and aged cheeses; however, it remains a bottle to be judged individually based on its state of preservation. Before purchase, it is advisable to check the condition of the bottle and the provenance of its storage with the seller.

Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
