The La Pietra Chardonnay Toscana IGT 1997, offered by Tenute del Cabreo and distributed by Folonari, is a mature white wine that reflects time spent in bottle. With a golden yellow color and amber highlights, it shows a complex yet restrained bouquet: aromas of dried fruit, quince and citrus peel, accompanied by earthy notes and a hint of floral character. Evolution is noticeable on the nose without being intrusive, and the structure still maintains a balance between freshness and minerality.
On the palate it is soft but with a texture that evidences long storage; acidity and body are discreetly harmonized, leaving a persistence reminiscent of hazelnut and honey. The bottle, also offered in a wooden case, calls for a considered consumption and pairs with flavorful fish dishes, white meats and aged cheeses, or can be enjoyed on its own as a historic expression of Tuscan Chardonnay. Storage in the wooden case enhances its presentation for collectors.

Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
