La Pietra Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2001 from Tenute del Cabreo - Folonari is a white wine presented in cassa legno. It is a Chardonnay labeled Toscana IGT, vintage 2001. Given its age, the wine may have developed more evolved aromatic profiles; we recommend handling it with care at tasting. The bottle, if properly stored, expresses character and complexity that should be assessed individually.

In the glass one may notice aromas evoking ripe fleshy fruit, soft notes and evolutionary components; body and acidity may be reduced compared with a young white. It is advisable to serve at a controlled temperature and, if deemed helpful, briefly decant to smooth any sediment. Suggested pairings: more structured fish dishes, preparations of white meat or Tuscan recipes that are not overly spiced. This bottle is suited to occasions when the complexity and experience of a mature wine are desired.

Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
