In the heart of the renowned winemaking region of Alto Adige, the Colterenzio winery offers us one of its enological gems: the Lagrein Alto Adige DOC. This robust and velvety red wine perfectly embodies the tradition and innovation that characterize winemaking in this area.

Lagrein, a native variety of Alto Adige, is distinguished by its unique aromatic profile and well-defined character. The wine displays a deep, almost impenetrable red color, which hints at the richness of aromas perceived on the nose: notes of ripe forest fruits such as blackberries and raspberries, are intertwined with spicy accents of chocolate and vanilla, derived from aging in barriques.

On the palate, the Lagrein Alto Adige DOC from Colterenzio expresses itself with power and elegance. The attack is vigorous, with a well-balanced tannic structure that supports a full and harmonious body. The fruity and spicy notes perceived on the nose are confirmed and enriched with nuances of leather and tobacco, leading to a long and persistent finish.

Ideal to accompany rich and flavorful dishes, such as braised red meats, game, and aged cheeses, this wine can turn any meal into a special occasion. The optimal serving temperature is around 16-18°C, to enhance all its organoleptic qualities.

Colterenzio is a winery that is writing important pages in the history of Alto Adige's oenology, and this Lagrein is a tangible testimony of it. A wine that every enthusiast should undoubtedly discover and taste.

Winery history
Founded as a growers' cooperative in the Colterenzio/Schreckbichl area, the winery was established in 1960 by a group of local producers. In the years that followed, figures such as Luis Raifer drove a significant improvement in quality, initiating experiments on pilot vineyards that helped define the cooperative's identity and flagship selections.
Production philosophy
Teamwork among partners, careful vineyard selection and hand harvesting, reduced yields for premium selections, and a quality-focused approach. In recent years there has also been a clear commitment to sustainable practices and energy efficiency in the winery.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are located around Colterenzio/Cornaiano/Appiano and nearby areas, at altitudes of approximately 230–650 metres; partly morainic soils and the typical Alto Adige microclimates favour fresh, well-structured white wines.
Awards and recognitions
Among its principal accolades: the Sauvignon Riserva Gran Lafóa was awarded the 'Tre Bicchieri' and named 'Bianco dell'Anno' in the Vini d'Italia guide.
