Leone Rosso dell'Orcia presents itself with a straightforward, immediate character, faithful to the Tuscan style but with a touch of modernity. Well balanced, it shows ripe red fruit and notes of cherry and forest floor, accompanied by herbal hints and a light spiciness that does not overpower. On the palate it is savory and fresh, with lively yet gentle tannins that support the body without weighing it down; its smooth drinkability leaves a pleasant, clean, and well-balanced finish. The organic label is evident in the aromatic purity and clarity of the fruit.

It is a wine of great gastronomic versatility: it naturally accompanies cured meats and semi-aged cheeses, hearty tomato-based first courses, and main dishes of white or grilled meats. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, in large glasses that highlight the freshness and tannic texture, to appreciate its development and the wine’s clean expression. Ideal for those looking for an everyday red with character and charm.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini – Winery in Toscana

Discover the story and wines of Donatella Cinelli Colombini.

A Tuscan winery with two estates (Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda), known for its Brunello wines, its approach to wine tourism, and for a cellar team composed entirely of women.
Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Grapes: Sangiovese (Brunello), Merlot, Sagrantino, Traminer aromatico, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti, Foglia Tonda
Casato Prime Donne: the first Italian winery with an all-female team. Two main estates: Casato Prime Donne and Fattoria del Colle. Projects to recover native grape varieties and wines linked to the local area. Wide range of wine tourism options: guided tours, tastings, agritourism and cooking classes. Diversified production: Brunello, Orcia, Chianti and IGT wines, Vin Santo and extra virgin olive oil.
Winery history
The family has been connected to the hills of southern Siena for centuries: parts of the estates date back to the 16th century and Fattoria del Colle returned to the family in 1919. In recent years Donatella Cinelli Colombini has relaunched the properties, grouping them under her name and opening the modern facilities of Fattoria del Colle and Casato Prime Donne in the early 2000s. On the estate's website and in official materials, milestones such as the renovation of the vineyards, the opening of the cellars and the recognitions she has received over the course of her career are mentioned.
Production philosophy
The estate combines a long-standing tradition with modern cellar practices, highlighting local grape varieties and careful farming. It promotes wine tourism through agritourism accommodation, cooking classes and tasting experiences. It is also known for recovering abandoned native varieties and for its strong focus on the visitor experience.
Terroir and vineyards
The main activities are based in Tuscany: Casato Prime Donne is located in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda, in the area between Val d'Orcia and the Chianti/Orcia DOC. Both estates host vineyards, historic cellars and hospitality facilities offering tours, tastings and wine-and-food stays.
Awards and recognitions
Among the awards the winery has received are the Oscar Bibenda and the Premio Internazionale Vinitaly.
