The Merlot IGP Montiano di Cotarella is born in the rich and sunny hills of Lazio, a territory that gives this wine a soft and enveloping personality. The Merlot grape variety is cultivated with great care, favoring a harvest that preserves freshness and aromaticity. The aging in stainless steel tanks enhances the fruity purity of the wine, with notes of ripe cherry, plum, and a delicate herbal nuance that makes it a very balanced product. On the palate, it is juicy and full, with silky tannins and a pleasant persistence that invites you to continue sipping. It is ideal as a companion to white meats, flavorful first courses, and soft cheeses, enhancing every dish without overwhelming it. A Merlot accessible and sincere, bringing the warmth and generosity of Lazio directly into the glass.

Italian family-owned wine group (brands Falesco / Cotarella) with strong ties to the Lazio region; known for its Merlot "Montiano" and for promoting the indigenous Roscetto grape under the "Ferentano" label.
Region: Lazio, Umbria, Toscana

Montiano: pure Merlot, the family's iconic label. Ferentano: a label dedicated to the native Roscetto grape variety. Primary growing areas: Montefiascone / Montecchio. Reported estate size: approximately 330 hectares of vineyards. Reported annual production: approximately 3,650,000 bottles.
Winery history
The family's roots date back to the 1960s; brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella founded the Falesco project in 1979. In the years that followed, leadership passed to the next generation and the group evolved into Famiglia Cotarella, expanding its vineyard holdings and acquiring new estates. The company has also conducted research and initiatives to recover local grape varieties such as Roscetto.
Production philosophy
The pursuit of territorial expression through the integration of tradition and innovation: a focus on enhancing indigenous grape varieties, experimentation in the vineyard and cellar, and training and social responsibility projects linked to the territory.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are mainly located across Lazio and Umbria, with sites also in Tuscany. Soils are often of volcanic origin in the areas surrounding Lake Bolsena.
