The Merlot Riserva Alto Adige DOC Mollis from Ritterhof offers an elegant, measured profile: intense ruby color, a bouquet of ripe red fruit that melds with darker notes and a subtle balsamic vein. On the palate it shows softness and body balanced by a fresh acidity; the tannins are silky yet clearly present, contributing to an overall balance that leaves room for good persistence. It is not a wine removed from concreteness; rather it invites the sip with finesse and restraint.

The bottle’s approach is generous without excess: the fruit returns with clarity, and the finish remains savory and slightly spicy. Winery history

The winery has its roots in Caldaro on the Strada del Vino. According to the timeline published by the winery, its beginnings date back to 1967. The first official winemaker joined in the 1990s, and in 1999 ownership passed to the Roner family. In recent decades the winery has undergone several renovation projects, and it is currently led by Eva Kaneppele, a representative of the newest generation.

Production philosophy

The winery emphasizes the importance of terroir and careful vineyard management: hand harvesting, rigorous grape selection, and ongoing collaboration with local growers. Production is offered across several ranges, from everyday wines to selected bottlings and reserves, with a focus on sustainability and respect for nature.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located in the vicinity of Lago di Caldaro, in the heart of Alto Adige/Trentino-Alto Adige, along the Strada del Vino n.1. The production areas include morainic slopes and hills situated at approximately 320–450 metres above sea level, with the sandy and gravelly soils typical of the lake basin.
