The Oltrepò Pavese DOC Barbera Riserva "Fredo" from the Cordero San Giorgio winery is a wine of great expression, hailing from the historic wine region of Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardy. This wine is made from a careful selection of Barbera grapes, renowned for their ability to produce intense and deeply colored red wines. The "Fredo" is left to mature in reserve, ensuring a complexity and structure that only time can bestow.

Its coloration is typically intense, with hues ranging from deep ruby to almost purplish notes. On the nose, it opens with robust aromas of ripe red fruits, spices, and a slight hint of vanilla and leather, a result of aging in wood. On the palate, it is vigorous, full, and harmonious, with well-balanced tannins that promise good longevity. Elegant and persistent, it finishes with a lingering aftertaste reminiscent of the fruit and spice notes perceived on the nose.

Perfect to serve with hearty meat dishes, it is also ideal alongside aged cheeses. A wine that splendidly represents the quality and winemaking tradition of Oltrepò Pavese.

Winery history
The estate was established through the commitment of the Cordero family, who in 2019 acquired the historic Tenuta San Giorgio in Oltrepò Pavese. The estate features a 17th-century tower and an underground cellar with a brick-vaulted ceiling; the family also maintains vineyards in the Langhe, from which they produce the Moscato Exergia.
Production philosophy
Production focused on enhancing the local territory through low‑impact environmental practices and the preservation of biodiversity. Pinot Noir is the estate’s leading variety; parcels are vinified separately to highlight differences in terroir, and winemaking and aging techniques are applied to respect the expressiveness of the grapes.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and main vineyards are located in the Oltrepò Pavese; some Moscato vineyards are situated in the Langhe, in San Giorgio di Castiglione Tinella. Soils vary by area, with limestone, clay and sandy veins.
