The Pignoletto Superiore DOCG "Il Superiore" produced by La Riva winery is a perfect example of the elegance and refinement that characterize the white wines from Emilia-Romagna. This wine stands out not only for its Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), which ensures a high level of quality and region-specific characteristics, but also for its unique flavor profile.

Visually, Pignoletto Superiore displays a straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, typical of the great white wines from the region. The nose immediately reveals light floral notes accompanied by hints of white-fleshed fruits such as pear and green apple, enriched by a light touch of hazelnut and minerality, adding an intriguing freshness.

On the palate, "Il Superiore" is soft and harmonious from the start. Its well-balanced acidity makes it lively and persistent, carrying flavors that reflect the aromatic bouquet detected by the nose, with a delicacy that invites another sip. The finesse of the bubbles, typical of superior production methods, adds a pleasant texture to the palate.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with fish and shellfish dishes, this Pignoletto Superiore is also a great choice for lovers of vegetable-based dishes and fresh cheeses. Its versatility makes it suitable for various occasions, from an elegant lunch to a casual gathering among friends.

Undoubtedly, "Il Superiore" by La Riva is a wine that meets expectations, offering a sophisticated and flavorful expression of the Pignoletto varietal, capable of conveying the terroir from which it originates with every sip.

Winery history
Tenuta La Riva was founded as a family project, driven by Alberto's passion and the tradition of several generations. The estate has grown steadily, focusing on bottle refermentation and the promotion of local grape varieties such as Pignoletto and Trebbiano Modenese, with the family involved in every stage from vineyard to cellar.
Production philosophy
The winery favors refermentation in bottle and a low-intervention winemaking approach: organic farming, low use of sulfites and techniques that respect the land and health. For sparkling wines they practice long periods of lees contact and perform disgorgements à la volée for low- or no-dosage wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate, located in the Colli Bolognesi at Castello di Serravalle, is surrounded by the characteristic calanchi of the Emilian Apennines and lies about half an hour from Bologna. It cultivates indigenous and international grape varieties suited to the hilly terrain.
