Winery history
The Geil family has been connected to Bechtheim for generations: Georg Geil's purchase of the manor house in 1871 marked the beginning of the local winemaking tradition that would later bring Johann Geil to public attention. Johann promoted local bottling and was awarded the title of Oekonomierat. Today the estate remains family-run and the business continues across multiple generations.
Production philosophy
The estate seeks to emphasize the origin of its vineyards and the typicity of its terroirs through meticulous vineyard work and careful winemaking. Production is focused on local varieties, with an approach that combines tradition, artisanal care and openness to modern techniques.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Bechtheim, in the Wonnegau district. The estate's recognized vineyards include Geyersberg, Rosengarten and Hasensprung. The soils of some vineyards consist of loess over a calcareous/carbonate subsoil.
