This Pinot Nero 2021 in magnum format from Weingut Gottardi Mazzon presents as an elegant, restrained red. In the glass it shows a clear colour and a fine texture; on the nose there are impressions of ripe red fruit, light floral hints and a touch of delicate spice. On the palate it displays balance between acidity and tannins, with medium body and a pleasant persistence that enhances the drinking without pretension. The tannic frame is subtle, freshness supports the sip and the finish leaves a slightly fruity aftertaste.

The magnum bottle is intended for conviviality: ideal for sharing at large tables and festive occasions. It is recommended to serve it at a moderate temperature and, if desired, to open it a few hours in advance to allow the aromas to unfold. Recommended pairings include not too structured meat dishes, cured meats and mid-aged cheeses; it is a wine to enjoy in its simplicity and restraint. Winery history
The Gottardi family, originally involved in the wine trade in Innsbruck, purchased the vineyards in Mazzon in 1986. Over the years the vines were replanted and the winery renovated: the first wine produced in the renewed facility dates back to 1995. Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer were also cultivated in the past, but since 2010 the estate has focused exclusively on Pinot Noir. Management has remained family-run: after the death of the founder Bruno and a period under Alexander’s leadership, since May 2022 the winery has been led by Elisabeth Gottardi.
Production philosophy
Utmost attention to Pinot Noir and the terroir: meticulous winemaking to express the elegance and identity of Mazzon, with a careful selection of barriques and oak aging for the flagship wines.
