Franz Haas Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC is an elegant and lively red wine, described by the winery as “the white among the reds”. Depending on the vintage, its color can range from light ruby red to deep ruby red. The bouquet opens with notes of sour cherries and raspberries, marzipan and plum jam, followed by hints of cloves, cinnamon and woodland. On the palate, it is fresh and harmonious, with elegant tannins that give the wine an aromatic, rounded character and an inviting, pleasantly persistent finish.

The Pinot Nero vines grow between 350 and 900 meters above sea level on highly varied soils, with high-density plantings that support grape quality. Fermentation takes place in open tanks, with frequent pumping over and punch-downs to extract aromas and color from the skins. The wine then matures for one year in barriques and continues to refine for several months in the bottle after release. Serve at 16–18 °C. It pairs well with light fish dishes, wild game roasts and red meats.
