Rosso Maremma DOC Poggio alla Guardia - Rocca di Frassinello is born in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a territory characterized by a mild climate and rich soils that give the wines depth and structure. This label stands out for the blend of typical grape varieties, capable of best expressing the elegance and power of the denomination. The aging takes place in wooden barrels, which impart aromatic complexity and soft, well-integrated tannins to the wine, while the intense color foreshadows a enveloping and structured palate. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and light balsamic essences emerge, harmoniously blending with hints of licorice and tobacco. On the palate, it is full, velvety, with a long and pleasantly persistent finish. Perfect with grilled red meats, flavorful dishes, and aged cheeses, this red proudly represents the identity of the Maremma territory.

Winery history
The project originated from an Italian–French collaboration between Domini Castellare and Domaines Barons de Rothschild. Construction, entrusted to Renzo Piano’s team, began in the early 2000s, and the winery was officially inaugurated on 30 June 2007. Over the years the estate has also incorporated archaeological activities on its grounds, resulting in the establishment of an Etruscan documentation center housed within the facility.
Production philosophy
The winemaking approach prioritizes vineyard work as the foundation of quality, combining careful agricultural practices and targeted vinification to highlight both native Sangiovese and the international varieties cultivated on the estate.
Terroir and vineyards
Located among the hills of the Maremma, in the municipality of Gavorrano, the estate benefits from a climate moderated by its proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea and from soils with a calcareous component and a stony structure that influence the characteristics of its wines.
