Discovering a winemaking gem from Piedmont, the Ruché Castagnole Monferrato DOCG produced by Gianni Doglia is a red wine that highlights a unique varietal character. This wine, coming from the Asti region, reflects a niche winemaking tradition that has been enhanced by the skilled viticultural and enological techniques of the Doglia winery.

Gianni Doglia's Ruché stands out for its intensely floral and spicy aromatic profile. On the nose, notes of rose and pepper emerge immediately, along with hints of ripe red fruits such as sour cherry and raspberry. In the mouth, the experience is complex yet harmonious, with a perfect balance between acidity and soft tannins that make the sip pleasantly persistent.

The vinification of this Ruché follows a precise philosophy of respecting the terroir and the grape’s varietal characteristics. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at controlled temperatures, to preserve all the aromatic nuances of the grapes. Subsequently, the wine is left to mature for several months in wooden barrels, gaining complexity without losing freshness.

Recommended to accompany Piedmontese dishes such as agnolotti del plin or braised meats, this Ruché is best served at a temperature of about 16-18°C. With its distinctive character, the Ruché Castagnole Monferrato DOCG by Gianni Doglia represents an excellent choice for lovers of native Italian wines, who are looking for something beyond the usual wine routes.

This wine not only tells the story of a rich and vibrant territory but also stands as an ambassador of quality winemaking that respects both tradition and innovation.

Winery history
The family story begins with Eugenio Rivella, who in 1947 purchased land in the Annunziata hamlet of Castagnole delle Lanze to produce wine from his own grapes. Over the years management passed to the next generation and, from the late 1990s/early 2000s, to their son Gianni, an oenologist trained in enology and viticulture who has led the estate through its growth. From 2000 Gianni took direct charge of the estate, and in 2001 he vinified Moscato d'Asti from the family vineyards for the first time. In 2013 his sister Paola joined the business full-time. In 2022 Gianni was selected by Gambero Rosso as Winemaker of the Year.
