Don Papa Masskara Rum is a sophisticated and cutting-edge expression from the distillery located on the island of Negros in the Philippines, known as "Sugarlandia" due to its fertile volcanic soil and a preference for cultivating sugarcane. The Masskara version, bottled at 70cl, captures the vibrant essence of the famous Masskara festival in Bacolod, an event that celebrates local joy and culture with colorful masks and traditional dances.
Don Papa Masskara Rum is aged for seven years in American oak barrels under the warm tropical climate of Negros, which accelerates the interaction between the liquid and the wood, giving the rum a unique complexity. On the nose, it immediately stands out for its intense notes of vanilla and dried fruit, with an undertone of honey and light spicy hints reminiscent of cinnamon.
