This “tres vieux” expression indicates a long aging in oak barrels, which imparts depth and complexity to the rum. The olfactory notes open with hints of vanilla, dried fruit, and sweet spices, while on the palate softness and an elegant balance between caramelized sweetness and light toasted hints emerge. The saltiness makes the final persistence pleasant, outlining a refined and seductive character.

Distillation
Combined use of rectifying columns (main C20 column), the historic Savalle copper column for selected batches and pot stills for certain expressions; fermentations can be short for some white agricoles or very long for the Grand Arôme.
Ageing
Ageing in wooden barrels within local tropical chais; Savanna employs different maturation approaches, including use of ex-distillate casks and cooperages of various types, and maintains some maturation cellars close to the ocean that influence the profile of the rhums vieux.
