The Saint Véran AOC from Trènel is a fascinating expression of Chardonnay in southern Burgundy, precisely in the Mâconnais region. This area is renowned for the production of white wines that combine freshness and complexity, thanks to a favorable terroir and careful viticultural practices. Trènel, founded in 1928 and subsequently acquired by the Chapoutier family, a name synonymous with excellence in the world of wine, continues the tradition of creating wines that faithfully reflect the character of their terroir.

Saint Véran AOC is produced entirely from Chardonnay grapes, selected from the best plots, which benefit from rich soil and an ideal microclimate for this variety. The wine reflects Trènel's approach, which combines traditional methods with modern winemaking techniques, aiming to enhance the purity of the fruit and the minerality typical of wines from this area.

Winemaking involves fermentation at a controlled temperature, followed by aging in stainless steel or oak barriques, depending on the vintage and the specific characteristics of the wine, to preserve the aromatic freshness and add structure and complexity to the final wine.

Visually, the Saint Véran of Trènel has a light straw yellow color, with brilliant reflections. On the nose, it offers a rich and inviting bouquet, with notes of white pulp fruit such as apple and pear, floral accents and a subtle minerality that evokes flint, typical of the Mâconnais soils.

In the mouth, the wine is lively and fresh, with a nice acidity that supports its structure and balances the aromatic richness. The flavors of fresh fruit blend with a delicate note of butter and vanilla, the result of aging, leading to a long and clean finish, with a pleasant mineral vein that persists.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with a variety of dishes, from light starters to fish and seafood, chicken dishes or fresh goat cheeses, Trènel's Saint Véran AOC is a wine that celebrates versatility and elegance of Chardonnay, offering a tasting experience that is both refreshing and complex.

Winery history
La Maison Trénel was founded in 1928 and developed as a négociant and producer of wines from the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, alongside artisanal production of fruit creams and distillates. In 2015 the property became part of the M. Chapoutier portfolio, which renewed focus on the quality of the Maison’s winemaking and the terroirs it works.
Production philosophy
The estate favors the authentic expression of fruit and terroir: it sources selected grapes, employs focused winemaking, and emphasizes regional typicity rather than overly technical styles. It also maintains a tradition of artisanal fruit liqueurs from Burgundy.
Terroir and vineyards
Based in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, it operates primarily in the Mâconnais and in areas of the Beaujolais. Some technical sheets indicate siliciclastic/clayey soils and east- to south-facing exposures for specific vineyards used for the Beaujolais Villages.
