Saint Clair Family Estate – Winery in Marlborough

Discover the story and wines of Saint Clair Family Estate.

New Zealand family winery founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, specialising in wines from Marlborough vineyards.
Region: Marlborough
Country: New Zealand
Winery history
Neal and Judy Ibbotson have grown grapes in Marlborough since 1978. After initially supplying grapes to other wine companies, they founded Saint Clair Family Estate in 1994 to make their own wines.
Production philosophy
The winery aims to produce high-quality wines by combining viticultural expertise with Marlborough’s soils and climate and careful grape selection. It matches varieties to the terroir of each site and uses sustainable vineyard practices.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are mainly in the Wairau, Awatere and Ure Valleys in Marlborough. The estate also has a vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels wine-growing district in Hawke’s Bay.
