The Sauvignon DOC from Ronco del Gelso is a superb exemplification of the winemaking capabilities of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, known for producing top-quality white wines thanks to its ideal climate and rich soils. Each sip of this Sauvignon DOC reveals a complexity and refinement that only a winery with a deep dedication to quality like Ronco del Gelso can provide.

The wine presents itself in a bright straw yellow color, with greenish reflections that suggest its freshness and vivacity. On the nose, it is intensely aromatic: notes of passion fruit, citrus, freshly cut grass, and a subtle mineral touch invite a thorough tasting. These aromatic components are reflected in an equally complex and layered palate.

In the mouth, the Sauvignon DOC from Ronco del Gelso displays an impeccable balance between acidity and body, a distinctive feature of the Sauvignon from this area. The taste is penetrating, with a long and pleasantly fresh persistence, ending with an elegant and clean finish. Notes of lemon, melon, and a hint of green pepper, typical of the varietal, are well present and contribute to the overall complexity of the wine.

This wine is excellent to serve as an aperitif, but its structure and complexity also make it a perfect pairing for a variety of dishes. It pairs divinely with seafood, fish-based dishes, and Asian cuisine, offering an aromatic counterpoint that elevates the gastronomic experience.

Ronco del Gelso winery commits to limited production to ensure that each bottle maintains superior quality. This Sauvignon DOC is not just a wine, but a true sensory journey that highlights the excellence of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the world of white wines.

Discover the story and wines of Ronco del Gelso.

Wine estate based in Cormons (GO), Friuli-Venezia Giulia, best known for its local white wines such as the Pinot Grigio "Sot Lis Rivis" and for controlled production from grape to bottling.
Region: Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Country: Italia
Founded: 1988
Grapes: Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer
Address: Via Isonzo 117, 34071 Cormons Founded: 1988 Declared production: approximately 150,000 bottles per year Vineyards in the Isonzo plain, on lean, stony soils. Recently built winery with full control over all production stages.
Winery history
Family-run winery: the Badin family cites 1988 as the year they first bottled under the Ronco del Gelso name. The estate shifted from livestock farming to wine production, growing from a few thousand initial bottles to a production, stated on their current website, of approximately 150,000 bottles annually.
Production philosophy
The company emphasizes full control of the production process. In the vineyard, agronomic choices are geared toward quality: trellised training using single Guyot, high planting density, soil management with cover crops and yield limitation to achieve wines that express the terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the narrow strip of plain formed by the tributaries of the Isonzo, between the Isonzo plain and the Collio. The soils are described as lean, stony and dry, conditions the estate considers favorable for quality viticulture.
Awards and recognitions
Numerous accolades and high scores, particularly for the Pinot Grigio "Sot Lis Rivis".
