Originally from the prestigious St. Emilion region in Bordeaux, France, Chateau Petit Faurie DE produces this excellent St. Emilion Rouge Grand Cru Classé, a wine that embodies the refinement and elegance of French viticulture. Created primarily from Merlot grapes with the addition of Cabernet Franc, this red wine is distinguished by its characteristic balance and complexity of aromas.

Visually, the wine features an intense ruby red color, while the nose reveals notes of ripe fruit such as plums and cherries, accompanied by nuances of sweet spices and a light touch of vanilla, stemming from maturation in French oak barrels. On the palate, the wine is robust yet elegant, with well-structured tannins that promise excellent aging potential. The richness of the fruit beautifully integrates with touches of chocolate and tobacco, culminating in a long and lingering finish.

This Grand Cru Classé is ideal to accompany sophisticated dishes such as roasted red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its structure and complexity also make it perfect to be enjoyed on its own, allowing one to appreciate every nuanced detail.

Serve at a temperature of about 16-18°C to enhance all its qualities. It is recommended to decant for at least one hour before serving to allow the wine to fully express its aromatic bouquet and structure. With an aging potential that extends over many years, this wine can also be a magnificent addition to any cellar.

Winery history
The name derives from "Faurie" and the nearby Château Soutard. Documents mention a vineyard at "Petit Faurie" as early as 1837; in 1850 two parcels were detached from Château Soutard, one of which became today's Petit Faurie. The estate passed through several owners. It was classified Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in the first classification of 1955; the name changed to Petit Faurie de Soutard in 1969. In 2017 the AG2R LA MONDIALE group acquired the property and launched an improvement program focused on agroecology.
Production philosophy
Production focused on fruit quality and environmental stewardship: agroecological vineyard management, increased biodiversity, agroforestry and cover crops to improve soil health, hand harvesting and animal-drawn operations for some stages.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated near the village of Saint-Émilion, the vineyard extends across a limestone plateau and the northern escarpment; soils consist of clay, limestone and sand. The estate overlooks the wine region recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
