The Taurasi Aurelia DOCG by Rocca del Principe represents an emblematic expression of the native Aglianico grape variety, known for its ability to produce wines of extraordinary complexity and longevity. Produced in the lush hills of Avellino, this wine is the result of a meticulous grape selection process and careful attention in vinification and aging.

The harvest occurs manually only when the grapes reach perfect ripeness, usually around the end of October, ensuring the optimal concentration of sugars, acids, and phenolic compounds. After fermentation, the Taurasi Aurelia DOCG matures in oak barriques for at least 18 months, followed by further refinement in the bottle that can exceed 24 months, thus enhancing its aromatic and tannic profiles.

Visually, the Taurasi by Rocca del Principe presents a deep ruby red color, almost impenetrable, which hints at its olfactory and taste richness. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits such as blackberries and cherries emerge, coupled with nuances of sweet spices, leather, tobacco, and a very distinct mineral touch. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a vigorous structure supported by robust yet elegant tannins and an acidity that carries the wine towards a long and persistently aromatic finish.

This Taurasi is ideal to accompany intense and structured dishes, such as roasted red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its aging capability also makes it an ideal candidate for cellaring, where it can evolve and improve for many years. A wine that celebrates the richness of the Avellino territory and Italian winemaking excellence.

Winery history
A family-owned company established when the founding partners decided to vinify and bottle their own grapes after years of supplying them to third parties. The transition to their own label, documented in multiple sources, took place in the early years of the 21st century.
Production philosophy
An artisanal, quality-focused approach: low yields in the vineyard, management practices that respect the soil and the vines, and winery interventions aimed at enhancing varietal identity. Selected aging methods are employed, including sur lie for some white wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery, located in Lapio in the heart of Irpinia, works vineyards situated on recognized cru sites such as Arianiello and Contrada Campore. The hilly location and proximity to the Monti Picentini influence diurnal temperature variations and the ripening of the grapes.
