Schidione is a Toscana IGT red wine by Jacopo Biondi Santi, produced at Castello di Montepò among the hills of Tuscany’s Maremma. It is made from a combination of Sangiovese Grosso from the BBS11 strain, closely connected with the Biondi Santi tradition, together with the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Toscana IGT classification allows stylistic freedom while preserving a clear connection with the character of the area.

On the palate, Schidione combines power, intensity and elegance. Cabernet Sauvignon contributes depth and structure, while Sangiovese brings finesse and freshness; Merlot completes the blend with softness and harmony. This distinctive red wine is well suited to roasts, grilled meats, game and aged cheeses. Schidione is an excellent choice for those looking for an expressive Tuscan wine that brings together the Biondi Santi family heritage and a contemporary style shaped by international grape varieties.

Winery history
The family's connection to the Il Greppo estate is documented from the 19th century: the first experiments with wines made exclusively from Sangiovese are attributable to members of the Santi family, while the modern Brunello di Montalcino is commonly attributed to Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, with the first documented version dating to 1888. Throughout the 20th century, family ownership and management consolidated the winery's reputation.
