Verdeca Salento IGT Petraluce - Castello Monaci is a lively and fresh expression of the Verdeca grape, carefully cultivated in the sunny lands of Salento, in the heart of Puglia. This white wine, produced by the renowned Castello Monaci winery, reflects the estate's commitment to valorising the native Apulian varieties, combining modern viticultural techniques with the regional winemaking tradition to enhance the unique characteristics of this grape variety.

Petraluce stands out for its bright straw yellow color with greenish reflections, announcing the freshness and liveliness that characterize this wine. On the nose, it offers an intensely fruity and floral aromatic bouquet, where notes of green apple, citrus fruits, white flowers and a hint of aromatic herbs dominate, which contribute to a surprising and inviting olfactory complexity.

On the palate it reveals an extraordinary freshness and minerality, with a perfect balance between acidity and body. The flavors of fresh fruit blend with a light salinity typical of wines produced near the sea, leading to a clean, persistent and pleasantly savory finish, which invites another sip.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with light dishes, this wine pairs beautifully with seafood appetizers, fish and seafood dishes, fresh salads and delicate cheeses. Its versatility also makes it a perfect companion to accompany a variety of occasions, from informal dinners to summer aperitifs on the terrace.

Winery history
The building known as Castello Monaci has historical origins dating back to the Renaissance/medieval period and takes its name from an ancient settlement of Basilian monks. Over the centuries the fortification’s use and ownership have changed several times, and it is now managed by the Memmo Seracca Guerrieri family, who have enhanced the historic residence by integrating winemaking, hospitality and events.
Production philosophy
It combines respect for native Salento grape varieties and the local terroir with the use of modern winery technologies: temperature-controlled vinification, ageing in barriques, and a focus on wine tourism through wine tours and a wine museum that showcases local traditions.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the heart of Salento, in Contrada Monaci near Salice Salentino and San Pancrazio Salentino, the estate is set among vineyards and olive groves and is influenced by the proximity of the Ionian and Adriatic seas. The soils include tuffaceous formations typical of the area.
Awards and recognitions
The winery’s wines have received positive ratings in international publications. Some flagship labels are cited in contexts that indicate national recognition; the winery is also recognized for awards and mentions related to hospitality and its location.
