Winery history

The area around Fattoria Aldobrandesca is rich in historical layers and takes its name from the historic Aldobrandeschi family. Today the estate is managed by Marchesi Antinori and the vineyards sit at the foot of Sovana’s tuff spur, in a landscape of notable archaeological and scenic interest.

Production philosophy

Varietal research and experimentation: the estate focuses on rediscovering the local Aleatico and on developing Malbec in this volcanic terroir, emphasizing the expression of the soil and local characteristics.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards located in the southern Maremma, in the immediate vicinity of Sovana. Volcanic soils with tuffaceous substrata on relatively flat terrain at about 200 metres above sea level.
