Vigna Arione Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC by Giacomo Conterno expresses the classic character of Nebbiolo with elegance: aromas of small red fruits, dried flowers and earthy notes alternating with light hints of spice. On the palate the sip is taut, supported by marked freshness and tannins that are present but well integrated, giving structure without weighing it down. The balance between acidity and fruit makes it smooth and suitable both to drink young and after a few years of evolution; the persistence is pleasant, with an almond-tinged return on the finish.

The magnum format adds a convivial dimension and promotes more harmonious aging over time, making the tannic weave rounder with age; it also opens up well after a short decanting. It pairs with grilled red meats, braises that are not overly elaborate, mushrooms and aged cheeses; an excellent companion for seasonal tables. Serve at a cool red-wine temperature and let it breathe for a few minutes to appreciate its complexity.

Giacomo Conterno – Winery in Piemonte

Discover the story and wines of Giacomo Conterno.

Historic Piedmontese winery based in Monforte d'Alba, renowned for the Barolo Riserva "Monfortino" and for the crus associated with the Cascina Francia vineyard; a benchmark of the classic Barolo tradition.
Region: Piemonte
Country: Italia
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa
Monfortino: the estate's historic Reserve and symbol. Cascina Francia: a benchmark vineyard for Barolo and Barbera. Production focused on tradition: long macerations and aging in large casks. Family-owned winery with generational succession.
Winery history
The Conterno family has been connected to the Langhe for generations. The "Monfortino" bottling has become an icon of the estate, and the practice of bottling Barolo Riserva has documented historical roots. Over the years the estate has strengthened its ties to the Cascina Francia vineyard, and management has passed from generation to generation to the family's current steward.
Production philosophy
Traditional approach in the vineyard and the cellar, with a strong focus on expressing each individual cru: extended fermentations and macerations, use of large traditional casks for ageing, and reluctance to rush the winemaking schedule. The estate favours patience and disciplined vineyard care to produce long-lived wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate operates in the heart of the Langhe, with vineyards and holdings between Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba. The Cascina Francia vineyard has historically been at the center of its most prestigious production and supplies grapes for the area's typical Barolo and Barbera.
