This 13-year-old Caol Ila, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, immediately reveals a well-defined smoky and maritime character: the peat is present in a decisive but never coarse way, accompanied by notes of sweet smoke, citrus zest and a hint of iodine that recalls coastal air. The malty component softens the profile, offering a linear and clean aromatic texture; the sensation is warm and direct, with earthy details that complete the picture without weighing it down.

On the palate the sip is consistent with the nose, balancing structure and freshness: salinity supports the smoky persistence while a light spiciness and a subtle cereal sweetness make everything harmonious. The finish is long, with citrus returns that temper the peat and leave a pleasant dryness. Recommended neat or with a drop of water to open its aromas; it pairs excellently with smoked fish, intensely prepared shellfish and aged cheeses for those seeking a bold yet refined single malt.
