Coaltown by Kingsbarns is a whisky with a decisive but not overpowering character, where the warmth of the malt balances a subtle smokiness that evokes ash and coal. On the nose there are notes of burnt caramel, honey and a fresh minerality that keeps the profile lean; on the palate the sip is round and enveloping, with a light spiciness that supports the structure without weighing it down. The finish is elegant and leaves a savory trace of smoke that remains pleasantly restrained.

Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its complexity, or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas; room temperature is ideal. Recommended pairings: hard cheeses, smoked meats or mushroom-based dishes, and a square of dark chocolate to finish. Suitable for those seeking a characterful whisky that can alternate between softness and vitality, without giving up a pleasant smoky accent during moments of relaxation.
