This Glentauchers 2008, 14 years old, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail shows a gentle, well-balanced profile. On the nose there are notes of white-fleshed fruit, apple and ripe peach, accompanied by light honey and vanilla; there's a pleasant malty imprint that provides warmth without being intrusive. The olfactory progression is linear and clean, a sign of careful workmanship that favors drinkability and elegance over sheer power. Delicate floral notes and a hint of bread crust are also perceptible.

On the palate it opens with medium body, softness and a fresh acidity that keeps the sip lively; the malt remains present, accompanied by candied citrus and a slight spicy touch on the aftertaste. The finish is balanced, with returns of honey and orange zest that leave a pleasant persistence. Excellent enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to open the aromas; pairs well with dark chocolate, buttery biscuits or medium-aged cheeses for a harmonious contrast.
