The Kilchoman Sanaig is a distinctive expression of Islay's distilling tradition. Originating from the Kilchoman distillery, the smallest and one of the newest on the island, this whisky is a prime example of the craftsmanship and passion for peaty single malts. The Sanaig, with its fascinating combination of maturation in Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels, offers a complex and richly layered aromatic profile.
On the nose, the Sanaig releases vigorous notes of dark fruit, cocoa, and a distinctive peatiness that evokes the wild nature of Islay. On the palate, it reveals a surprising balance between sweet notes of caramel and vanilla, thanks to the aging in bourbon barrels, and deeper, darker hints of red fruits and chocolate, courtesy of the sherry casks. The finish is long and persistent, with a refreshing return of the peaty notes and a slight spiciness.
An exceptional whisky, the Kilchoman Sanaig is ideal for those seeking an intense and complex tasting experience, reflecting the unique spirit and environment of Islay. This bottle is a must for whisky enthusiasts who appreciate a robust balance between innovation and tradition.
