This Linkwood 2012, 12 years old, from the historic Speyside region, presented in Douglas Laing’s Old Particular series and supplied in a gift box, is a measured example of elegant, natural style. On the nose it opens with wildflowers and honeyed notes, followed by white-fleshed fruit and light hints of fresh malt; it is not dominated by intrusive spices, but shows a subtle vanilla thread that supports the drink without weighing it down. The body is medium-full, the palate soft and flowing, well balanced between sweetness and a fine final dryness that extends the finish.

On the palate it confirms balance and charm: the sip is clean, with fruity returns and a light salinity that invites another glass. It is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to coax out the aromas; it pairs gracefully with soft cheeses, apple tarts, or quiet moments in which to appreciate Speyside’s subtle refinement. A choice suitable both for the collector and for those seeking an elegant, characterful single malt.
