A Macallan aged for three decades that presents itself with calm and restraint, housed in the velvet case of Douglas Laing’s Extra Old Particular series. On the nose it opens on a mature, rich tapestry: notes of dried fruit and candied citrus intertwine with dense honey and a bitter orange peel, while wood shaped by long maturation brings sweet spices and a slightly earthy base. It is never intrusive, rather complex and composed, with that elegance that signals a slow maturation without forcing.

On the palate the mouthfeel is enveloping and silky, with softness that coexists with a well-defined structure; the wood provides fine tannins and a drying texture that balances the sweet sensations of caramel and dark chocolate. The finish is long, fading into notes of sweet tobacco and citrus peel that invite a second tasting. It should be tasted neat, with a few drops of water only if needed to open its aromas; it pairs gracefully with dark chocolate or aged cheeses.
